My Body, My Power: A Salon for International Women's Day

My Body, My Power is a salon in honor of International Women's Day and benefiting local and international charities. All genders are welcome. Celebrate yourself and the women in your life!

My Body, My Power begins at 6:30PM with a social hour that includes heavy appetizers and one craft cocktail ticket. You can design a graph for the Graphic Sex Project, craft a postcard for a woman you love, and share insights for a Period Portrait audio recording. If you donate an unopened box of menustrual products, such as maxi pads, tampons, or pantyliners, you'll receive a FREE second cocktail ticket while helping the #HappyPeriodDC. (Donate as many products as you like, but limit one free additional cocktail per person).

The salon begins at 7:30PM. Open to all women attendees, we're soliciting musical performances, poems, stories, or whatever moves you on the theme "My Body, My Power." Anything goes! We want to share, hear, and be inspired by each other.

My Body, My Power is organized by Rebecca Hassell of Women Uncorked; Tara Pokras of Period Portraits, and Kimberly Pendleton, who leads women's empowerment coaching. Proceeds from ticket and drink sales will go to Kurandza, a non-profit social enterprise that invests in the future of women and girls in Mozambique.
