“To me, every single time I have my period, it is amazing to me that my body does this, every single month. That this process is consistent, and it is regular. I know the day and the time it is going to start. I know how long it is going to go. I guess it goes back to the whole reassurance thing. To me, I think it is so fascinating your body is capable of doing this. When I was on birth control, my periods were very short and that was always disconcerting to me. I felt like I wasn’t quite sure what the birth control was doing to my body. I knew theoretically what it was doing…But to never get it? That is one the reasons why I never got an IUD because I can’t imagine not having it. It was always a reassuring thing to me."
